Hair Today: A du-rag you say?

Normally when my hair is this short I have a combination of textures.  I will either wear it scrunched with gel or in flat waves.  When I did the big chop last spring, I found the shorter my hair was, the less curl it had.   I didn't really want to wear it spiky so I racked my brain for an answer.  Then it came to me...

A du-rag!

Aha! What's a du-rag?
A du-rag is a head wrap similar to a stocking cap but only has an extra piece to it originally used to keep hair in style to keep hair flat, get waves...etc

Now my brother and cousins used these long long ago to coax in their waves and I figured wouldn't it work for me and it did.  I've also found that when my hair is straight, they are great for holding my hair down for an air-dried wrap.

So this morning, I got up and washed my hair.  After towel drying, I added some wrap lotion. I prefer the foaming kind.  I used Motions.

Then I part my hair and comb it with a rattail comb into the shape i want.  I'll all about the side part.  I add a little gel on my edges to lay them flat.

And then I just put on the du-rag and finish errands around the house.
When I take the du-rag off, I have waves like this in the back and my hair is laid pretty flat.  All I do at that point is add a little pomade for shine and I'm off.

Like I said you can also use the du-rag for straight wraps.  I like the smooth finish vs. wearing a scarf.
