I remember buying Sade "Promise" from Nobody Beats the Wiz in downtown Newark. I quickly put it in my Walkman to listen and fell in love with Sade. Not that I didn't like her before. "Smooth Operator" and "Your Love is King" were faves but this album cemented it for me. I was 12 and I practiced singing "Is It A Crime" like I was the second coming of Sade. Her new album was released today but before I listen to it, I needed to see this video again.
Wow. She was about 25 in this video. And people wonder why I don't like most of what's played on the radio these days, lol.
