Maybe I'm a Star or the real reason I wear sunglasses and you should too.

I'm a firm believer in wearing my shades and not just for fashion purposes.

For me, shades can be a necessity to avoid light aggravating a migraine or to help me alleviate my eye allergies.  I've noticed as I get older my eyes are more sensitive to light....maybe from all the time I spend behind the computer.  From a fashion perspective, I like the way it can make me look polished with just a swipe of lipstick.

Why should you wear them too?

1.  They protect your eyes from UV rays.  UV rays can cause cataracts or other eye problems.  Also sunglasses help to protect the delicate skin around your eyes.

2.  Sunglasses reduce glare.  This is an important one to me.  Some people assume you only need sunnies in the summer but actually light reflecting off snow in winter can be even harder on the eyes.

3.  Sunglasses can protect your eyes from windblown items.  Did I mention I wear stunnas to help reduce my eye allergies?  Sunglasses keep that pesky pollen at bay.

These are just a few reasons outside of looking fabulous that you should invest in a pair of sunglasses.  Does this mean you  need the latest Versace specks?  LOL, no. Actually I worked with a young woman who used to buy Versace glasses and lose them within weeks of purchase.  Lucky for her, her boyfriend was her boss and also a millionaire.  She could afford the loss.

For me, my glasses on average can cost anywhere from $10 to $40.  The pair in the picture above is from either Target or Rite Aid.  I tend to break them easily so if they fit my face and block out at least 99% of UV rays, and at least 75% of visible light, I'm happy with a smaller price tag.

Some cheap places for sunnies:  Your local drugstore, trendy mall shop, Target, etc.

Looking for more high end, just search by designer name.

  1. I have blue eyes and being out in the sun actually HURTS them. Really! So I wear them every day. And I have prescription sunglasses so I can't have as much fun. Sad! But I do buy others so I can have a little fun, I just can't drive my car. Ha!

I'm soon to be shopping for new ones. Where should I go?
