Review: L'Oreal Decrease

I've been experimenting with using L'Oreal De-Crease Eye Shadow Base.  My thoughts are conflicted.  While it does help my shadow last longer it definitely changes the color of my shadow.

I purchased this Jane Aguashimmers Eyeshadow because it was on clearance.  The colors are pretty but they definitely need a base to last.
Here I swatched the color on the upper left without base.  Do you really see anything?
Here's the L'Oreal Decrease without shadow on it.
Same color shadow applied.

You can definitely see the color of the shadow but I noticed that even my darker colors look really light with the base on.  I think the L'Oreal is fine for lighter shades like the one above but you have to be careful if you step out of neutral colors.

I'd like to try out the NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Base Eye Shadow Primer in Skin Tone just to see if I can eliminate the color changing problem.  I also picked up the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original and I'm playing with that.

  1. You put a little too much of the decrease on...it's crreasing. Be a litle more lighter with the application. Also, you should use a base on-top of that maybe nyx jumbo e/p in milk or their e/s base it'll make the color pop, which is what I think you want.

  4. Thanks, Kim,

I know there's a difference and after using the UDPP I understand the difference. You said to use a base on top of the L'Oreal but the L'Oreal is not a primer. It's a base which is why I asked the question about using an additional base. Sorry for the confusion. :)

UDPP is a primer kind of like using a primer before foundation. I get that. It just preps things. The base is more to give you a foundation to build on which is why so many people like using the NYX Milk e/p. White base = bright colors. I know there is another color people use for neutral colors. I can't remember what it is.

I decided against using the L'Oreal as a base unless I'm really going for colors that POP.

I do think its helps prevent the shadow from fading but in reality I think I'm looking for something that holds the color vs. intensifying the color. So the primer is a better option for me.

    Thanks again!
