Length Check: Month 20

I meant to do this at 18 months but kept forgetting.  A quick story first...

26 years ago, a little girl was starting 7th grade and she begged her mother to let her wear her hair out.  "C'mon ma, this is junior high.  I can't keep walking around with these Pippi Longstocking ponytails!"  Of course, her mother didn't agree with her logic so the little girl begged for one small change to make her look a little bit older...BANGS.

At first her mother tried curling the front of the little girl's hair with a sponge roller.  In the morning, she'd have this tight little sausage roll in the front of her that would droop by noon.  The little girl didn't know which was worse...the tight little curl or the sad little drooping curl.  She plead her case for months until finally her mother cut the bangs to her brows.  Oooh that little girl thought she was sharp until those bangs frizzed out. (The little girl didn't have a relaxer.) So she was stuck with a mini frizz bush in the middle of her forehead. She rationed she would grow it out and she waited but that area of her head never grew back.  For the past 26 years, it never got longer than the tip of her nose...

1 year natural (February 2011)

October 19, 2011

Aww shucks!!  I didn't realize I had finally passed that point. At this rate, I probably will have enough hair to donate by February.  (Locks of Love requires 10 inches, Beautiful Lengths requires 8 inches.)

Yes, more than likely I will be big chopping again.  If not February 2012, then February 2013.  I don't see myself with long hair when I turn 40 in March 2013.

I haven't been trying any new products.  Nothing was standing out for me.  How many ways can you mix shea butter?  Plus, there's been too many scandals with these newer hair product lines.  If you don't know, check out the boards on Naturally Curly.  Those ladies are like I Spy (the game and the television series).  Nothing gets past them.

There are some products that I tried in the past that I may revisit during the Black Friday sales.  I know I need to clarify my hair because I haven't in months.  Other than that my hair seems to be doing well.  I tried to flat iron last week but it remained a big ole cloud of hair.  I will post that picture later in the weekend.
